Report: 25-year-old Chelsea forward in ‘regular contact’ with Bundesliga boss

Transfer News: Chelsea ace Timo Werner could join Bayern Munich

According to media outlet Sport1 (h/t The Mirror), Timo Werner could leave Chelsea and sign for Bayern Munich next summer.

The 25-year-old, who signed for the Stamford Bridge outfit as a part of their £200million expenditure last summer, has enjoyed a mixed time at the club. Werner started out at the London club in good nick, but the German’s form soon tapered off to an extent where he went without scoring a Premier League goal for 1000 minutes.

Although Werner eventually broke that curse, he could not manage to score consistently under new boss Thomas Tuchel either but did play an integral role in the Blues’ run to UEFA Champions League glory.

All in all, Werner managed 52 appearances across all competitions for the Stamford Bridge outfit last season and ended up scoring 12 goals, while he also provided 15 assists in the process.

However, given that the Blues made another addition to their frontline by signing Romelu Lukaku this summer, Werner could suffer for game-time this season.

The West London club already have the likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, and now Lukaku in the forward roles, courtesy of which regular playing time will not be guaranteed for the 25-year-old.

However, it seems like the German international could now make a move back to the Bundesliga next summer as he is already in ‘regular contact’ with Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, according to Sport1 (h/t The Mirror). The same outlet has also claimed a 70% chance of the striker ending up at the Allianz Arena next season.

Thus, only time will tell if Timo Werner decides to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.
