Transfer News: Chelsea decide to go after Aurelien Tchouameni next season
According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea have plans to go after Aurelien Tchouameni next season. They passed up on his signing this summer and believe that another season at AS Monaco will develop and make him ready for Chelsea to go after in 2022.
Chelsea decided to bolster their midfield this season as the club competes on all fronts. There will be more games to play and additional players would be needed. With only three names in central midfield, the decision to bring in Saul was made. The Spaniard joined on loan on deadline day.
However, there were more names on Chelsea’s wishlist for their midfield. Among them was the bright Aurelien Tchouameni of AS Monaco. The French midfielder has become a regular for Monaco at just 21 and even received his maiden France call-up recently. Tchouameni is an appealing prospect for Chelsea but he was not approached this summer.
The club are of the belief that another season with Monaco is better for his development. The plan is to go after him next summer as he would be ready to make the step-up (h/t Express). The youngster has already made more than 90 appearances and looks to have a bright future in the game if this rate of development is anything to go by.
