Romelu Lukaku completes major part of Chelsea medical as £97.5m move nears completion

Transfer News: Romelu Lukaku undergoing Chelsea medical ahead of £97.5m move

As per a report by The Guardian, Romelu Lukaku has completed the main part of his Chelsea medical ahead of a much-awaited Stamford Bridge return this summer.

The medical took place in Milan after the Blues agreed on a £97.5million fee for the Belgian striker; that brings the total transfer fee spent on him throughout his career to around £285million.

Lukaku is believed to be earning nearly £250,000-a-week at Chelsea, and his move puts a big question mark over Lautaro Martinez’s potential switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old has spent time in the Premier League before. He was signed by the Blues from Anderlecht in 2011. However, three fruitless years at Stamford Bridge ended up in him being sold to Everton.

Romelu’s medical going to plan

From there on, he built a big reputation at the Merseyside club, and at his subsequent teams – Manchester United as well as I Nerazzurri. He also enjoyed a loan spell to West Bromwich Albion during his time in West London.

Lukaku’s move is one of the biggest stories of the summer in the Premier League. Despite Chelsea buying Timo Werner last year, they have gone on to spend a huge fee to bring in another striker at the peak of his powers.

It is most definitely a statement purchase from Marina Granovskaia and shows the rest of the Premier League sides that the Blues are not here just to take part, but to take over.
