According to Football.london, Chelsea could miss out on the signing of Luis Diaz. Everton have leapfrogged all the clubs that were interested and could get a deal done for him soon. Tottenham were also interested in the Colombian winger.
Diaz was among the finds of the season during this Copa America. Not many fancied Colombia to go far in the tournament but they did courtesy of Diaz. The Porto winger lit up games with his performances, bagging four goals against some of the top sides such as Brazil Argentina and Peru.
His performances were only matched by a certain Lionel Messi which should speak volumes of his ability. It’s not entirely surprising though as he has been doing well for Porto over the last two seasons. Diaz had finally caught the attention of elite European sides with the likes of Chelsea interested.
However, Everton are likely to speed through a deal for the Potro winger after being on the verge of losing Moise Keane to Juventus and with Richarlison being eyed by PSG (h/t Football.london). From the looks of it, Chelsea and Spurs are all set to miss out on the talented Colombian.
Perhaps this isn’t such a bad thing to happen to Chelsea. The club have enough of attacking players at their disposal and adding another name is not bound to make things any easier for Thomas Tuchel. Diaz may be a fine player but Chelsea don’t really need him right now and they can pass up on his signing.
