“This is the plan” – Tuchel reveals when Chelsea’s record signing will train with his new team

Romelu Lukaku to link up with Chelsea next week

According to Football.london, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will link up with Chelsea next week. The club-record signing was recently unveiled as their new player but is required to stay in quarantine for five days. He will join the squad on Monday for training sessions.

Chelsea had a goal-scoring problem last season and they did something to solve it. They went straight ahead and signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. The Belgian will join the club for the second time after a three-year stay back in 2011. The striker is fresh off a Serie A winning campaign as well.

Lukaku signed a five-year deal with Chelsea and it has cost Chelsea a gargantuan £98million to bring him back to Stamford Bridge. It took some time for Chelsea to complete the process as he was only unveiled by the club on Thursday. That pretty much ruled him out for the season opener against Crystal Palace.

Lukaku has been required to serve a five-day quarantine after landing in London on Wednesday. Thomas Tuche provided an update as to when Lukaku would be able to join the side and possibly make his second debut.

“We were not fast enough so that he could play on Wednesday or tomorrow. Romelu is still on quarantine and following the protocols. He will be out on Monday and undertake training with us next week. He will play for us against Arsenal. This is the plan.”

A London derby against Arsenal perhaps could be the best stage for Lukaku to make his debut. Arsenal lost their season opener and confidence cannot be very high. Lukaku will be hoping that he can be handed a start to make his impression.
