According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have submitted an official bid for Saul Niguez. The offer is said to be a loan-to-buy with the Spaniard keen to leave Atletico Madrid. Manchester United are also in the hunt and have asked about Saul very recently.
The race for Saul is heating up one can say. For a player who signed a mammoth seven-year deal back in 2019, it seems rather puzzling as to why he would leave the Wanda Metropolitano. However, times have changed and Saul no longer is one of the central players on the side. It was evident from his bit-part role in the La Liga winning campaign last season.
Now he wants to leave and unsurprisingly there is a decent amount of interest in him. That is perhaps because he is still a quality player and is in his prime years as a midfielder. And, the biggest bit of development has been that Chelsea have officially sent a bid for him as claimed by Fabrizio Romano.
The offer will be that of an initial loan with the option to buy. There is the interest from Manchester United to consider though. They have asked about Saul in the last 24 hours and he is among the few midfielders they are after.
One thing is clear. Saul wants out and a move to the Premier League is most likely. For now, Chelsea are looking ahead in the race with their official offer. There is still quite a way to go in this and one can be sure that the last week of the transfer window will be buzzing with excitement.
