Michy Batshuayi nears Chelsea exit as Besiktas agree on transfer
According to TRT Sports (h/t football.london), Michy Batshuayi is close to sealing a permanent exit from Chelsea as Turkish giants Besiktas ‘agree deal’ for him.
Batshuayi joined Chelsea in the summer of 2016 and had a fruitful first season as he featured 29 times in all competitions for the Blues, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in the process.
The Belgian also scored one of the most important goals in the club’s history when he netted the winner against West Bromwich Albion to seal the 2016/17 Premier League title for Chelsea.
However, the forward did not manage to produce the same goal-tally in the 2017/18 season and was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the season.
While Batshuayi did come back from his loan move at the end of the season and played a little under new manager Maurizio Sarri, he was eventually sent out on loan to Valencia for the second half of the campaign. Since then, the Belgian has also been sent out on loan to Crystal Palace, where he spent the entirety of last season.
With Chelsea having the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner in their ranks, it would have been hard for the player to break into the squad this season, and the arrival of Romelu Lukaku has all but guaranteed that the 27-year-old does not have a starting role at the West London club.

The Belgian is not the only forward potentially exiting Stamford Bridge this summer, with Tammy Abraham also close to sealing a move to A.S Roma this summer. Thus, this could be goodbye for Batshuayi, who racked up 77 appearances in his five-year stint with the club.
