Chelsea have been handed an ultimatum by Sevilla for Jules Kounde
According to football.london, Sevilla have asked Chelsea to complete a deal for Jules Kounde as quickly as possible with the Spanish outfit not keen on letting their centre-back leave late in the transfer window.
The Blues, who have been targeting Jules Kounde, agreed personal terms with the Frenchman earlier this summer, however, a deal has failed to go through.
The West London outfit have tried to include Kurt Zouma in a player plus cash deal previously, however, Zouma himself does not prefer a move to Spain and would like to move to a Premier League club.
However, the London club has failed to move on the 26-year-old till now, resulting in an obstacle for them to sign the Sevilla centre-back. Kounde was immense at the back for Sevilla last season as he featured 49 times for the La Liga club in all competitions.
The emergence of Trevoh Chalobah in the centre-back slot could have created a delay in the minds of the Blues regarding a move for Kounde this summer, but according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law (h/t football.london), Chelsea are still interested in securing a deal for the Frenchman.
Moreover, Thomas Tuchel apparently also hinted at a position change for Trevoh Chalobah in the future, which could create a vacancy in the defence for the Blues– something Kounde could certainly fill.

Given that Antonio Rudiger is yet to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge and Thiago Silva’s contract is set to expire next year, the Blues might need reinforcements at the back.
However, if the Blues do intend on signing Kounde before the end of the month, they will have to complete a move soon as the Spanish outfit might not allow the player to leave if a late move is made for the defender.
