Team News: Blow for Chelsea as duo miss training ahead of London derby vs Arsenal

Chelsea could be without Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante against Arsenal

According to football.london, Chelsea duo Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante are doubtful for the game against Arsenal on Sunday after the duo missed the club’s open training session on Wednesday.

The aforementioned session, which was held at Cobham, was attended by fans and neither Pulisic nor Kante were spotted for the entire period as other players were put through their paces.

Given that the London derby against Arsenal is the next game on Chelsea’s agenda, this would be a cause of worry for Thomas Tuchel and co.

Although Kante failed to make it into the squad for the game on Saturday against Crystal Palace, Pulisic started the game while he also scored the second goal of the game. While no reason has been stated yet for the absence of the American, he could face a late fitness test ahead of the game against Arsenal on Sunday.

Kante, on the other hand, featured for more than an hour against Villarreal last Wednesday as the Blues went on to win the final of the UEFA Super Cup on penalties. Tuchel later confirmed that the player felt discomfort in his ankle ahead of the game against Palace and was hopeful of having the player back in mid-week and fit for the game against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Besides Kante and Pulisic, the Stamford Bridge outfit could also miss Hakim Ziyech, who suffered a shoulder injury in the UEFA Super Cup final after putting the Blues a goal to the good. The 28-year-old is yet to recover from that injury and is a huge doubt for the game against the Gunners.

However, in some positive news for the west London outfit, the club’s record-breaking signing in Romelu Lukaku was spotted training with the first team, while Tuchel is confident of the player featuring in their game against the London rivals on Sunday.
