Sevilla shoot down Kenedy swap proposal for Chelsea target Jules Kounde

According to Goal (h/t Express), Chelsea have suffered a setback in the negotiations for Jules Kounde. Sevilla have rejected a new part-exchange deal for their player. However, the report suggests that the Blues are still in the mix.

Chelsea are believed to be set to step up their efforts to secure the signature of the 22-year-old. The player is wanted by Thomas Tuchel in his efforts to strengthen the Chelsea defence.

The report suggests that Chelsea are unsure about matching the £68m release clause that Kounde has embedded in his contract. It adds that Sevilla have already rejected an offer worth £30m plus Kurt Zouma from Chelsea. The Blues’ latest advances saw them propose another part exchange with Kenedy being the player offered.

Kenedy spent the last two campaigns in Spain. The player had loan spells at Getafe and Granada respectively.  The offer has been rejected by Sevilla, though as the La Liga side are not interested in the 25-year-old.

Could Chelsea land Jules Kounde?

According to the Express, Kounde has been previously linked with Tottenham and Manchester United. The interest from England for the defender could be certain. The report adds that Kounde has dropped hints about his future. The player acknowledged that his future might be elsewhere.

Out of the clubs linked, one could assume that Chelsea could be the most attractive option. The Champions League winners would be looking to build on last season’s success with more glory. Kounde would also get to train with the likes of Thiago Silva and Cezar Azpelicueta, which could boost his development.

Kounde, still 22, could solidify Chelsea’s spine for years to come. However, Chelsea and Sevilla are yet to come to an agreement overthe transfer of the player.
