Out-of-favour Chelsea duo closing in on Italy switch claims Fabrizio Romano

Transfer News: Chelsea duo Tiemoue Bakayoko and Zappacosta close to exit

According to transfer news from Sky Sports, the Chelsea duo of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta are close to exiting the club. Bakayoko is in line for a loan return to AC Milan while Zappacosta will be leaving on a permanent deal to Atalanta.

It was almost painful to watch Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea. Nothing he did paid off and whatever little he did ended up costing Chelsea. A series of loan spells would follow which would see him go to AC Milan, Monaco and Napoli. However, it was pretty clear that the French midfielder will not really be a part of Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

Zappacosta was a bit of a different case though. Ha came with low expectations and received hardly much of a chance to stake his claim for a place in the side. He would also go in consecutive loan spells to Roma and Genoa. The latter proved to be the more effective but he still remains far from breaking into the Chelsea side.

Now, both players are set to trade the Premier League for the Serie A again. Bakayoko will be heading back to familiar surroundings with AC Milan where he spent time on loan. Fabrizio Romano claims that it will be a loan-to-buy deal. Zappacosta, on the other hand, will be leaving Chelsea for good and joins Atalanta. Both deals are expected to be made official soon.

It is definitely a win-win for Chelsea as they are close to getting the duo off their books. Although, one could say they might have liked to get Bakayoko out on a permanent deal as well. Nonetheless, it’s still not a bad situation.
