Chelsea ready to sell 26-year-old star to London rivals to fund a move for Jules Kounde

Chelsea are willing to sell Kurt Zouma to Spurs this summer to fund a move for Jules Kounde

According to journalist Christian Falk from BILD (h/t football.london), Chelsea are ready to move Kurt Zouma away to Spurs this summer if it allows them to fund a move for Jules Kounde.

The Blues, who have always considered Spurs as one of their arch-rivals, are ready to do business with them again – a statement that has been used very rarely due to the poor relationship the two clubs share ever since Roman Abramovich tried to poach Luka Modric from the North London outfit.

However, it seems like the Blues have let bygones be bygones and are ready to sell the 26-year-old to their counterparts. This also has a lot to do with the fact that the West London outfit are trying to secure a deal for Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have been keen on the defender while they also agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old earlier this summer. However, a transfer for Zouma also needs to go through for the Blues to make room for Kounde.

Chelsea are currently stacked in the centre-back area as they have the likes of Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Zouma in the centre-back options, while youngster Trevoh Chalobah has also broken into the first-team this season. Thus, a move for Zouma seems likely as he will suffer for game-time.

While both West Ham and Tottenham have been interested in signing the 26-year-old, Spurs are the only club that are willing to meet his £100,000-a-week wages to the centre-back as Nuno Espirito Santo is eyeing a defender to partner the club’s new signing, Cristian Romero. (h/t football.london)

However, Zouma is also said to be happy to stay at Chelsea if a move does not materialize this summer as his current contract runs until 2023.

Thus, Marina Granovskaia will have to move fast if Chelsea are to offload the Frenchman this summer as there are less than two weeks before the transfer window shuts.
