“Of course there is interest”: La Liga club chief provides an update on 22-year-old Chelsea target’s future

Transfer News: Sevilla director reveals Chelsea are yet to make Jules Kounde bid

Sevilla director Monchi confirmed in an interview (h/t Metro) that his side are yet to receive an official bid for Chelsea transfer target, Jules Kounde.

The 22-year-old is on Chelsea’s wishlist as they look to strengthen their backline. The report goes on to mention that the Blues have even tried to include Kurt Zouma in a deal that could be worth €70million.

But they haven’t been the only clubs after the France international, and given his quality and age, Real Madrid and Manchester United’s interest over the summer does not come as a surprise. (h/t Metro)

Monchi, however, has stated that the club are yet to receive a bid for the youngster who has made himself a regular starter for Los Nervionenses over the past few years.

“Many clubs have asked for Kounde. Of course there’s interest but no official bid is on the table.”

Kounde to Chelsea?

He went on to add that the player is up for sale if the right bid arrives, which would be good news for the Blues given their interest in their player. The Frenchman plied his trade at Bordeaux before his move to Sevilla in 2019.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. We will sell if an important bid arrives, this is our policy to improve the team.”

The Blues have already agreed to pay a mammoth £97.5million for Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker returns to Stamford Bridge after seven years since he left to join Everton, following which he also had a stint at Manchester United before ending up at Inter Milan. During this period, he has proven his mettle in Europe.

And Kounde’s addition would be the icing on Chelsea’s cake. But for that, Marina Granovskaia would first have to submit a bid that Monchi can agree to.
