Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma set to enter the race for £40m-rated Chelsea star

Transfer News: Jose Mourinho eyeing Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham at AS Roma if Edin Dzeko leaves for Inter Milan

According to transfer news from Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Metro), AS Roma are set to enter the race for Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, with Edin Dzeko on Inter Milan’s radar.

The Blues have agreed on a £97.5million fee for Romelu Lukaku. And I Nerazzurri are eyeing AS Roma’s Bosnian striker, Edin Dzeko, as a potential replacement.

And the former Manchester City and Wolfsburg striker can be replaced at I Giallorossi by Chelsea’s 23-year-old Englishman, Tammy Abraham. The striker has courted interest from London rivals, Arsenal. (h/t Metro)

But the Serie A side’s interest in the £40million-rated striker comes as welcome news for the Blues considering this can potentially offer them a chance at cushioning the financial setback they would undergo in signing Lukaku.

Abraham to leave Stamford Bridge?

Abraham is clearly not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans. Despite impressing under Frank Lampard, the Chelsea academy graduate was completely left out of the matchday squad in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup finals.

Timo Werner has established himself as Tuchel’s go-to option in attack. And with the imminent arrival of the Belgian international, Lukaku, Abraham would find it even harder to get starts at the club.

The Blues also have 19-year-old Albanian striker, Armando Broja, who would be gunning for minutes with the senior side. Kai Havertz can play in that position too, giving the German manager plenty of options in attack.

More Chelsea News:

At 23, Abraham still has a long way to go before he can fully reach his potential and blossom into the striker we know he can become. A move away from Chelsea, on an individual level, seems like the best option for him if he wants to reignite his career.
