Transfer News: Chelsea ready to loan out Ruben Loftus-Cheek with Southampton keen

According to transfer news from The Sun, Chelsea have decided to send midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek out on loan again, with Southampton and Bundesliga clubs keen.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Loftus-Cheek was heralded as one of the brightest prospects coming through but has found it hard to kick on after showing promising signs. A serious injury he sustained towards the end of the 2018/19 season meant he hardly featured under Frank Lampard the subsequent year.

Loftus-Cheek was then farmed out loan to Fulham during the 2020/21 campaign where he largely underwhelmed. Now back at Chelsea, the 25-year-old, in a recent interview, made his intentions of fighting for a first-team spot clear.

“I feel really fit now and strong, and hopefully the injuries stay away. I’ve had a season now to get fit and feel confident in my body and this season is where I hit the ground running.”

However, it seems like Loftus-Cheek may have to wait for his chances at the Bridge for another year as Chelsea are now ready to loan him out for another season. There is significant interest from the Bundesliga – an idea that also appeals to the Blues themselves.

Closer to home, Southampton are also looking to sign him on a temporary basis.

Gary Neville believes Chelsea will cahs in on midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek for around £25 million.

More Chelsea News:

Chelsea should carefully consider what they decide with regard to the future of Loftus-Cheek. While a loan move may make sense, the Blues must also look at the fact there is not much depth beyond Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the first-team with Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher leaving on loan.

With the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater having no future at the club, it would be helpful to have Loftus-Cheek to call upon. With the club competing on four fronts, depth will come in extremely handy.
