Transfer News: Chelsea set to make a bid ‘imminently’ for Erling Haaland

According to journalist Andreas Korssund (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea are set to make a bid for Borussia Dortmund superstar and top transfer target Erling Haaland imminently.

Haaland, who turned 21 this month, has quickly established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the game currently, after enjoying a brilliant eighteen-month spell with Dortmund. Having signed from RB Salzburg in January last year, the Norwegian has plundered 57 goals in 59 games for the Black and Yellows.

Haaland’s exploits in front of goal have led to serious interest from top clubs in Europe, including Champions League winners Chelsea. The Blues are in the market for a new centre-forward after having lost Olivier Giroud this summer while Tammy Abraham has been out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.

With Timo Werner also underwhelming in front of goal, it makes sense for Chelsea to want to add another source of goals, and Haaland, to that end, would be a top-notch addition to the club.

And, it is now being claimed by journalist Korssund that Chelsea are set to launch a bid imminently for the Norwegian international. The same claim has also been made by talkSPORT (h/t Daily Star) as well, indicating that there could be some truth to these reports.

While Chelsea may be preparing an offer for Haaland, whether Borussia Dortmund accept that is a whole different story altogether. Romelu Lukaku has also been lined up as an option, as per the report. It now remains to be seen if the Blues are successful in their pursuit of the 21-year-old.
