According to transfer news from Express, Barcelona have offered Chelsea the chance to sign Antoine Griezmann. The Spanish giants are hard-pressed to get players off their burgeoning wage bill and are willing to sanction the sale of the French forward.
Barcelona are in a royal mess at this point. With a significantly overblown wage bill that has exceeded the wage cap of La Liga, Barcelona cannot register their new signings. What they have to do now is that they have to sanction the sale of their top players.
Among them is 30-year-old French star Antoine Griezmann. The striker was once seen as among the best forwards in Europe while at Atletico Madrid. However, since his big-money move to Barcelona, things have been difficult as he has failed to replicate any of those goalscoring exploits for his new club.
It is for that reason that Barcelona have offered Chelsea the chance to sign Griezmann. Chelsea are on the lookout for a striker as the likes of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are facing uncertain futures at the club. It seems as if the interest is concrete, with Griezmann’s representatives set to meet Chelsea over a prospective deal.
Griezmann does represent a unique proposition for Chelsea. The striker is a hard-working presence on the field who can create as well as score goals. But the form he has shown over the last two seasons should be a bit of a concern. These are still early days but this deal can be one to keep an eye on.
