Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland, is a transfer target for Chelsea and has impressed with his scoring stats in Germany.

Transfer News: Erling Haaland expects to complete Chelsea move

According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Erling Haaland expects to complete a summer move to Chelsea. The Blues have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a transfer. However, there is one problem with his agent Mino Raiola wanting a ‘get-out clause’ for his client.

The Norwegian hitman has taken Europe by storm with his goal-scoring exploits for RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. In 59 outings for the latter, he has scored 57 goals. Chelsea have held an interest in the player for a while now as they try to add a striker to their ranks for next season.

It looked as if Haaland was surely heading for the exit. But with Dortmund’s Champions League qualification ensured for next season, there is a chance that he remains in Westfalenstadion. Regardless, Chelsea have opened talks over a move.

Haaland, on his part, is expecting to move to Chelsea over the summer. However, there is still a stumbling block with his agent, the notorious Raiola, demanding a sort of release clause. Journalist Ian McGarry explained it in detail.

“His agent, Mino Raiola, is keen to insert a get-out clause into Haaland’s contract in order that he move – his next move that is after he moves from Dortmund is smooth and is also concrete with regards to the payment and also the structure. And of course in Mino’s case, the commission. Chelsea are not particularly keen on any get-out clause for any of their players.

“This is something that is obviously common in Spain, in LaLiga, and also in Serie A and sometimes in the Bundesliga as well. Because, of course, Haaland is coming from Borussia Dortmund and expects to be joining Chelsea before the new season begins. This is something that has to be ironed out between Raiola and Chelsea if this deal is going to be signed in terms of both Dortmund and the player himself.”

More Chelsea News:

It is definitely encouraging that Haaland wants a move to Chelsea. However, it is also understandable that Chelsea are not keen on the ‘get-out clause’ being proposed by Raiola. It would mean that any club can pay that amount and sign Haaland from Chelsea in the future. Things are surely getting interesting in this saga with a transfer looking plausible.
