Chelsea handed major boost in pursuit of French defender after Sergio Ramos transfer

Transfer News: Chelsea receive boost in Presnel Kimpembe pursuit after Sergio Ramos’ PSG move

According to French outlet L’Equipe (h/t Express), Chelsea transfer target and PSG centre-back, Presnel Kimpembe, is considering his future after the arrival of Sergio Ramos.

The 35-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side on a free transfer from Real Madrid this summer after his contract at Santiago Bernabeu ran out. And this could make Kimpembe insecure about his starting spot at Parc des Princes. (h/t Express)

Marquinhos is already an established player for the French side and Ramos could partner the Brazilian in defence. The report mentions that Kimpembe arrives in training on Friday and anticipates talks over his future with Mauricio Pochettino.

Kimpembe played under Thomas Tuchel when the German was the manager at PSG. The former Borussia Dortmund boss has now found a new home at Chelsea after his success with them last season.

Kimpembe on Chelsea’s wishlist?

He guided them to the UEFA Champions League title after taking over from Frank Lampard’s mid-season. But matching that level again this season would not be an easy task.

And for that, strengthening the side becomes important. The Blues have Thiago Silva as their main man in defence but the veteran defender turns 37 by the end of this season.

Kimpembe, if signed by Marina Granovskaia, could be the man to succeed Silva or any other defender that Chelsea may lose in the coming years. The 25-year-old has spent his entire career on PSG’s books.
