Chelsea star Jorginho responds to Ballon d’Or speculations and becoming PL’s ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’

Chelsea star Jorginho reacts to Ballon d’Or claims

According to football.london, Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho has refused to get drawn into speculations of him winning the Ballon d’Or this year.

Jorginho is enjoying a year to remember. The 29-year-old midfielder had a memorable season with the club as he helped Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League, emerging as one of the team’s pivotal players under Thomas Tuchel.

This was followed by a series of stunning displays at the UEFA Euro 2020 at Italy, as he emerged as the linchpin of the Azzuri midfield, leading them to their first major international trophy since the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Jorginho’s exploits with club and country have put him firmly among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or 2021. Should he go on to win, the 29-year-old would become the first Premier League player since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008, when the Portuguese was still at Manchester United.

And, Jorginho, after his triumph with Italy, was quizzed if he would become the Premier League’s ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ by winning the Ballon d’Or 2021. The Chelsea ace, though, refused to get drawn in on the rumours. (h/t football.london)

“Nahh! Next question! I don’t want to talk about that, I don’t think about that. I just want to enjoy the moment with these guys.”

Jorginho is a key player for Chelsea

More Chelsea News:

As iterated earlier, the year 2021 has been special for Jorginho. The 29-year-old is deserving of all the plaudits and praise coming his way, considering that he has had to face quite a bit of flak in the past. As for the Ballon d’Or, it remains to be seen if he ends the Premier League’s barren run in the prestigious award ceremony, with Lionel Messi a top contender as well after winning the Copa America 2021.
