Transfer News: Chelsea preparing British transfer record bid for Erling Haaland

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea are looking to make a record offer for Erling Haaland. Dortmund are bracing themselves with a possible offer of £150million for their star striker. Provided Chelsea bid that amount, it would break the previous British transfer record of Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United.

The chase for Haaland has just gotten a whole lot more complicated. The German side recently sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United meaning that would not want to lose another attacker in the same window. Hence, they are holding out for an exorbitant valuation of £150million.

Several sides such as Real Madrid have backed out for now and want to go after him next season when that number drops by more than half. However, Dortmund are still expecting Chelsea to go after the Norwegian star in this transfer window itself.

They believe Chelsea have the funds to make a British transfer record bid for Haaland and prise him away (h/t Express). Chelsea also face uncertainty over the futures of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud. That means they have all the more reason to put their weight behind a bid for Haaland.

It’s not entirely out of the equation that Chelsea can smash the British transfer record. It is currently held by Paul Pogba and United. We do seem to have the funds for this transfer as seen last season. Given what Haaland brings to the table, it would be hard to question Chelsea’s decision to go after him.
