Promising Chelsea starlet set for a medical at PL side after agreeing loan move

Transfer News: Chelsea starlet Billy Gilmour set for Norwich medical

According to transfer news from EDP, Chelsea starlet is all set to have a medical with Norwich. The Scottish midfielder will head out to the newly-promoted side on a one-year loan deal. The medical will take place just after he ends his self-isolation due to COVID.

The Scottish midfielder has found game time tough to come by under Tuchel ever since his appointment. He has been afforded only three Premier League games over the last season. With the likes of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic playing week in week out, Gilmour has had to play the role of a deputy.

Billy Gilmour Chelsea of Scotland is named star of the match during the UEFA 2020 European Championship, EM, Europameisterschaft group match between England and Scotland at Wembley Stadium, London, England on 18 June 2021.

Despite the sporadic games, Gilmour was pushed into the Scotland squad for the Euros. Steve Clarke learned quickly in the first game that he needed to bring in Gilmour for the second game. A star of the match display against a side like England meant that he kept them quiet throughout.

While Gilmour disappointingly had to drop out of the last game due to COVID, it seems as if he has garnered some attention. Newly promoted Norwich City are said to be interested in bringing Gilmour on a loan deal. The Canaries are looking to add new faces after Oliver Skipp left the club.

Now, the youngster is all set to have his medical for the Premier League’s new side. It will take place once his self-isolation ends. Provided everything goes without a hitch, Norwich could announce the deal as early this weekend.

Daniel Farke, the Norwich manager, has a working relationship with Tuchel since their Dortmund days and will be hoping to use that. It works for Chelsea as well given that Gilmour will be able to get Premier League experience.
