According to Sport Bild (h/t Football.london), Chelsea have held talks with superagent Pini Zahavi regarding a summer move for his client Robert Lewandowski.
The 32-year-old Polish international is amongst the best strikers in world football. He has an exemplary tally of 294 goals and 65 assists in 329 matches for the Bavarian giants. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Chelsea are in the market for a striker and have earmarked Erling Haaland as their top target. While the Norwegian is a bonafide wonderkid, Lewandowski thoroughly outscored him last season. (h/t BBC)
The report does not make it clear as to the extent of Chelsea’s talks with the Israeli superagent. There, however, appears to be genuine interest and it remains to be seen if it will pick up pace in the coming weeks.
The Blues are not averse to paying the Polish ace what he needs. The financial package being put together has grabbed the attention of the player’s entourage.
With Olivier Giroud having joined AC Milan and Tammy Abraham potentially on his way out, the disappointing Timo Werner is the club’s ace striker. The German has, however, failed to impress at the Bridge and will need to step up his game if he is to lead the line for the Blues.
In Lewandowski, Chelsea will be landing themselves a player who knows exactly what it takes to find the back of the net. The Polish ace broke German legend Gerd Mueller’s 49-year-old Bundesliga record for the most goals scored in a single campaign in 2020/21. (h/t BBC)
The 32-year-old has not let age slow him down and is ageing like fine wine. In fact, he averaged a goal every 60 minutes last season in the German top flight. He has also scored 40+ goals in each of the last 6 seasons and was a central part of Bayern’s treble in 2020.
