Chelsea look to raise £86million for Bundesliga superstar with four potential outgoings lined up

Transfer News: Chelsea look to bring in cash for Erling Haaland bid with 4 potential exits lined up

According to Sunday World (h/t The Express), Erling Haaland is a dream signing for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. However, the club would need to sell players to comply with Financial Fair Play rules if they want the striker.

It goes on to mention that the Blues would need another £86million in order to make a concrete bid for the Borussia Dortmund superstar. Haaland could cost £150million this summer in transfer fees alone but has a £64million release clause that activates in 2022.

And for this reason, clubs would have to cough up big money in this window to land the 20-year-old. Apart from Chelsea, several other clubs are interested in him, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

It is evident that Chelsea want the Norwegian and they would realise that waiting for a transfer in transfer windows after this summer could mean losing out to other clubs who are keen on signing him.

Can Chelsea sign Haaland?

The report mentions that the Blues could raise the required money from four potential sales. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ross Barkley, Olivier Giroud, and Tammy Abraham could all exit Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The latter two are behind Timo Werner in the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel, and would slip further down if Haaland was to arrive in the summer.

Barkley was loaned out to Aston Villa and it is difficult to see where the English playmaker fits in the German manager’s current set-up. Kepa, meanwhile, has been playing second fiddle to Edouard Mendy all season long.

If the potential sales of the four names mentioned above give Chelsea a chance to beat other clubs and sign Haaland before next season, not many fans would be opposed to it. However, it is all easier said than done.
