According to transfer news from Leicestershire Live, Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham is being eyed by Leicester City. The Blues are now more likely to be open to a sale for Abraham safety renewed Olivier Giroud’s contract.
Tammy Abraham is having a torrid time at Chelsea. It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench, or even out of the matchday squads in recent weeks. The striker has hardly featured over the last three months or so.
The England international has slipped down the pecking order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.
Leicester were among the first few clubs to be linked to Abraham. Now, with Chelsea securing the future of Olivier Giroud, they could be looking to let the England international go. Another reason is that Chelsea want to raise some funds for new signings.
Despite his age, Jamie Vardy remains one of the most potent strikers in the league. He still looks like he has more to offer and can play for a good few seasons more. However, signing a young striker like Abraham would get Leicester a long-term replacement for him.
There is obviously no shortage of suitors for Abraham as West Ham, Wolves, Newcastle, AS Roma have also shown interest along with Aston Villa. The 23-year-old clearly has no future at Chelsea and cashing in on him with Leicester City interested will be a wise move.
