According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Andre Silva. The Portuguese striker is seen as among the alternative strikers Chelsea could go for if they cannot sign Erling Haaland.
Despite a Champions League win, Chelsea seemingly have a niggling issue on their hands. Their forwards cannot seem to find the goal with ease. Timo Werner was signed for big money and he missed chances left and right.
For some unknown reason, Tammy Abraham was not given games after Thomas Tuchel took over. While Olivier Giroud did well to add some useful goals, he is likely to exit the club regardless of his contract extension.
That led to Chelsea going after Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland. With interest in the Norwegian rather high, Chelsea also lined up some alternatives such as Andre Silva. The Portuguese striker enjoyed a scintillating season in the Bundesliga.
With 28 goals and 8 assists in just 32 Bundesliga appearances, he spearheaded the German side’s bid alongside Luka Jovic, for a top-four finish. (h/t Transfermarkt) While they eventually fell short, Silva was only behind Robert Lewandowski in the top scorer’s list.
While Silva may be a bit of a punt, given he has had inconsistent seasons in various clubs, he is a talented forward. In case Chelsea do look to go for an alternative to Erling Haaland, Silva can be a decent option to look at.
