According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have received a setback in their pursuit of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The AC Milan keeper is expected to join PSG on a free transfer despite being linked to Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.
The Italian international has already established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The fact that he has done it at such an early age is even more impressive. It also means that he is still not a finished product. After all, the Italian stopper is just 22 years old and has over 250 appearances so far for Il Rossoneri.
Donnarumma has been in the news, with his contract set to end this season and no extension being agreed. That attracted the attention of clubs like Chelsea, Spurs, Barcelona, Juventus, Roma and Arsenal who wanted to sign the keeper on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It was earlier reported that Donnarumma would not be extending his deal with Milan and walk out on a free transfer. Now, it appears that the Italian keeper will be heading to France with PSG. The capital club have offered €12million in wages and a five-year deal to him. Unless any club matches that, Donnarumma could be snapped up by PSG.
While Chelsea already have a reliable keeper in Edouard Mendy, getting Donnarumma on a free transfer would have been a huge coup. Nonetheless, it does look like he will be moving to PSG as they have made a lucrative offer for him.
