Chelsea Transfer News: Luke McCormick wanted by Motherwell

According to transfer news from Daily Record, Motherwell are all set to go after Chelsea midfielder Luke McCormick. The 22-year-old still has a year left on his deal but could be released to Motherwell with a significant sell-on clause. Millwall and Wimbledon have also kept tabs on him.

A youth product of Chelsea’s academy, McCormick has been with the club since 2005. He climbed through all the age groups at the academy before being sent out on loan to Shrewsbury Town in 2019.

He would make just 8 appearances before returning to the club. Last year, he went out on loan to Bristol Rovers and established himself in the side. He played a total of 42 games while scoring six and assisting two.

With the midfielder now back at Chelsea, they have a decision to make. His contract ends in a year. Scottish side Motherwell are keen on signing him and might have to shell out some cash to land him. However, it is also understood that Chelsea can release the player if Motherwell include a substantial sell-on clause.
