Boost for Chelsea as 25-year-old transfer target wants to leave current club this summer

Transfer News: Chelsea receive boost in pursuit of Kingsley Coman

According to transfer news from Sky Germany and RMC Sport (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Kinglsey Coman, as he wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Coman came through the youth ranks at PSG but made his name with Juventus, whom he joined in 2014 on a free transfer. A year later he was snapped up by Bayern Munich, initially on a two-year loan deal before the transfer was made permanent in 2017.

While he did not make an explosive start to life in Bavaria, the Frenchman has gradually grown into a crucial player for the Rekordmeister. Till date, he has made 200 appearances for Bayern, scoring 41 goals and setting up 50 more. The 2020/21 campaign was perhaps his most productive one as he finished with 8 goals and 15 assists in 39 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Coman is contracted with Bayern Munich till 2023 but the German champions have decided to stall negotiations over a new contract due to his massive wage demands. This development has alerted Chelsea, who are now keeping close tabs on the situation, along with Manchester United. (h/t Football.london)

Chelsea already have a plethora of attacking talent on their books. But there are question marks surrounding the future of Hakim Ziyech, who has been linked with an exit. In addition, academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi is also staring at an uncertain future at the Bridge, with him being linked to Bayern Munich, coincidentally.

Should either of the two end up leaving the club this summer, it would open up a spot for Coman to arrive at Stamford Bridge. It will be interesting to see if there is any progress on this front in the coming weeks.
