According to BBC journalist Matt Dean (h/t Sunderland Echo), Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has emerged as a transfer target for Hull City, with Sunderland also keen on signing him.

Baxter, though, has spent a lot of time out on loan in the recent years, having had stints with the Metropolitan Police FC, Solihull Moors, Woking FC, Yeovil Town and Ross County. The English shot-stopper was on a temporary spell with Accrington Stanley for the 2020/21 season, where he made 19 appearances, securing eight clean sheets.

Back at Chelsea now, Baxter is unlikely to progress into the first-team with Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga locking down the two goalkeeping positions. Although, it must be noted that the latter has been linked with an exit from the Bridge this summer, with former boss Maurizio Sarri keen on a reunion at Lazio.

As things stand, the 22-year-old is courting serious interest from Sunderland as it is. But the Black Cats how now been joined by Hull City in the race for the goalkeeper. The Tigers, as per the report, are keen on taking Baxter on a season-long loan deal for the young Englishman.
