Report: Chelsea academy product on the verge of sealing £25m exit from the club

Transfer News: Fikayo Tomori close to Chelsea exit

According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Fikayo Tomori is closing in on an exit from Chelsea. AC Milan are expected to activate his £25m to-buy clause at the end of his loan spell at the club.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team in 2019 after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of that season.

Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where he thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old quickly went about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.

Now, it has been reported that Tomori will join AC Milan on a permanent deal at the end of his loan spell. The English defender is seemingly not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the future. He has a £25m buyout clause as part of the loan agreement that AC Milan are close to activating.

Tomori’s 15-year association with the Blues finally seems to be coming to an end this summer. While it would be hindsight to say Chelsea should not have let Tomori leave, the fact remains that Chelsea have enough players who can do the job for them as we have seen. Nonetheless, the Blues are all set to land some handsome profits from this sale.
