“Still sleeping ok” – Real Madrid star has a cheeky response to Chelsea ace’s comments after UCL win

Toni Kroos responds to Mason Mount after Chelsea star’s reply

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos had his verbal jibe at Mason Mount after the Chelsea ace responded to him post-game (h/t Daily Mail). When Mount claimed indirectly that Kroos should lose some sleep over facing Chelsea, the German congratulated him but added a cheek jibe by telling him to enjoy his first final.

Chelsea ran out as comfortable winners against Real Madrid in the semi-finals to secure a place in the final. Timo Werner and Mason Mount were the decisive goalscorers as the Blues won 2-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

Ahead of the game, words were exchanged between both sides as each tried to unnerve the other. Toni Kroos was among the Real Madrid players who sent a retort that he did not lose sleep over this game against Chelsea nor any game in the last 15 years of his career.

After the game, Mount referred to Kroos’ comments and said that Real Madrid need to lose sleep as a team when facing Chelsea. While the German may not have aggressively responded to that, he did leave a snide remark.

This pretty much looks like harmless banter. Players are ultra-competitive these days and try to get into each other’s minds. The jibe is understandable from Kroos, a multiple-time Champions League winner and playing in a few finals too. Mount, on the other hand, is just getting started and might go on to play a few in his career.
