Manager of European giants outlines intentions to sign Chelsea ace in the summer

Stefano Pioli confirms AC Milan want to sign Fikayo Tomori permanently from Chelsea

According to the Daily Mail, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has reiterated the club’s desire to secure the transfer of Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a permanent deal.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team last season after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of the last season.

Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game-time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where has thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old has quickly gone about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.

Tomori put in a stunning display this past weekend as Milan beat Juventus 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium. The Chelsea loanee was instrumental in the win as he pocketed Cristiano Ronaldo and also managed to chip in with a goal at the other end.

And, speaking after the game, Pioli confirmed that AC Milan intend to make his transfer from Chelsea a permanent one at the end of the season. The Italian tactician also claimed that the defender himself wanted to move to Lombardy on a permanent basis as well.

“We want to buy Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea. Our intention is clear and also Fikayo’s decision (staying at Milan). We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”
