Former backs this young Chelsea star to be targeted by Man United

Chelsea Transfer News: Fikayo Tomori tipped to join Manchester United

According to transfer news from Football.london, Manchester United have been urged to sign Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori. Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist felt that United should be going after the Englishman who is on loan at AC Milan.

A product of the Chelsea youth academy, Tomori broke into the first-team last season after loan spells away at Hull City and Derby County. Initially a regular under Frank Lampard, the England international found himself out of favour since the second half of the last season.

Tomori dropped further down the pecking order this term following the arrival of Thiago Silva on a free transfer. Having been deprived of game time at the Bridge, he moved to Milan in January, where has thrived endlessly. The 23-year-old has quickly gone about establishing himself as a mainstay at the back for the Rossoneri.

Manchester United are looking for a new centre-back to partner Harry Maguire and McCoist believes that Tomori can be a good choice to go after.

“I still think the centre-back position is a key priority for Manchester United. An interesting one is [Fikayo] Tomori, what about him? Would you go and get him? They definitely need someone to play alongside Harry Maguire.”

Tomori may be surplus to requirements at Chelsea. However, it is difficult to see the club selling him to a direct rival like United. AC Milan do have an option to sign Tomori on a permanent deal for €28m. Tomori, in all likelihood, might sign for Milan on a permanent deal.
