Chelsea planning a raid on Serie A side for 28-year-old left-footed midfielder

Transfer News: Chelsea planning to raid Atalanta for Ruslan Malinovskyi

According to transfer news from The Sun, Chelsea plan on raiding Atalanta for Ruslan Malinovskyi. The Ukrainian midfielder is understood to be high on Thomas Tuchel’s summer wishlist.

Profile

A youth product of now-defunct Ukrainian club Polissya Zhytomyr, Malinovskiy played for the reserves of Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevastopol and Zorya Luhansk before making a permanent move to Genk on the back of a successful loan spell in the 2016-17 season. The 28-year-old also has 35 international caps to his name.

Ruslan Malinovskyi

Currently, at Atalanta, a left footed-central midfielder, Malinovskiy is an excellent passer of the ball who likes to dictate the tempo of the game in the middle of the park with his passing and distribution.

Malinovskyi likes to make runs forward to support the attack where his superior technical abilities and incisive passing can improve cohesion in the final third. However, he is best known for his magical left foot that is capable of finding the net.

Thomas Tuchel wants Malinovskyi

For all the midfielders, Chelsea have at their disposal, none of them are really playmakers. They are good at breaking up the opposition play or maybe just pushing the ball towards the forward line. However, they often lack that killer final ball which can leave the opposition reeling.

It’s not without reason that Chelsea are looking towards Malinovskyi. The £20million-rated playmaker is enjoying one of his best seasons for Atalanta despite testing positive for COVID in November last year.

The Blues will go after the Ukrainian in the summer when the transfer window opens. Despite the player still having more than two years on his current deal, Chelsea will try to test Atalanta’s resolve.
