Transfer News: Chelsea interested in signing Alex Sandro by offering Emerson Palmieri

According to transfer news from Calciomercato, Juventus are keen on selling Alex Sandro and Chelsea are interested in signing him by offering Emerson Palmieri.

Sandro has blown hot and cold during his Juventus career. Since making the move from Porto, he was a bright spark in Juve’s defence and attack. Capable of contributing to both ends, he quickly became a regular in the side under Max Allegri.

Italy: Serie A: Juventus vs Torino Alex Sandro of Juventus FC during the Serie A football match between Torino FC and Juventus. Sporting stadiums around Italy remain under strict restrictions due to the Coronavirus Pandemic as Government social distancing laws prohibit fans inside venues resulting in games being played behind closed doors. The match ended 2-2, Turin, Italy.

However, he hasn’t shown much improvement in the last few seasons but is a regular part of the squad under Andrea Pirlo this season. He has hardly shown his attacking skills this season, something which he was known for. Hence, Juve are looking to revamp his position in the summer.

Chelsea already spent a fortune to sign Ben Chilwell this season. On Tuchel’s arrival though, the formation was switched and Marcos Alonso was installed as the wing-back. Despite that, the Blues are willing to spend money on another left-back. However, a price tag of around €25million has been demanded by Juve for Sandro. Chelsea are interested but they will offer their own left-back, Emerson, in a swap deal.

This deal hardly makes sense from Chelsea’s perspective. They already have two first-choice left wing-backs in Alonso and Chilwell, who is adjusting well to the new role. Swapping a third-choice for Sandro makes things even more complicated unless they let go of someone like Alonso.
