Chelsea star equals Eden Hazard’s record after assist against Fulham

Timo Werner matched this Eden Hazard record at Chelsea after assist against Fulham

A report by The Sun mentions that Timo Werner has become the first Chelsea player to record double digits for both goals and assists since 2012/13, when Eden Hazard achieved that feat.

That was the Belgian winger’s debut season at the Blues and he took the league by storm. Hazard recorded a total of 13 goals and 24 assists in all competitions in that campaign.

Since then, no other player reached that feat, until this Saturday. Werner played a sumptuous pass to Kai Havertz to help him score his 2nd on the night against Fulham and seal the 2-0 scoreline.

That was the 25-year-old striker’s 10th assist in all competitions this season, to go along with his 11 goals. Those are impressive stats for a player that has been criticized for his slow start in England this season.

Back in form?

But those criticisms haven’t come without reason considering he has just 2 leagues in his last 24 Premier League appearances. However, his recent form has been good and Blues fans would be encouraged by Werner’s performances recently.

Speaking about the former RB Leipzig striker after the match, Tuchel mentioned that he combined well with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz during the Blues’ dominant 2-0 win.

“Timo was involved in many chances, Mason [Mount] was outstanding and always involved. Kai played double striker with Timo and the two had a good connection and were always dangerous.”

The German international is also only the 5th Premier League player to achieve that feat this season. The others in the list are Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Marcus Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes. (h/t The Sun)
