According to transfer news from Evening Standard, misfiring Chelsea star Timo Werner is slowly running out of time to prove his worth to Thomas Tuchel. The manager is set to finalise his transfer plans for next season and the forward needs to convince him that he can start bagging the goals soon.
It seems like Timo Werner really can’t catch a break. Despite only joining the club this season, he has failed to match his previously high standards.
With two goals since November, it is clear as to why Chelsea may just be thinking about contingency plans. He was even ripped a new one by a former Spurs midfielder who labelled him as a ‘blind horse’.
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea are set to work on and finalise their transfer plans for next season and a striker is high on the priority list, given Werner’s form, Giroud’s age and Abraham future. The German is keen on adding one of Sergio Aguero or Erling Haaland to the side.
Aguero is set to leave City as a free agent while Erling Haaland’s name has been doing the rounds for a while. The former is a name liked by Tuchel while the latter has been chased by Chelsea and a host of clubs. The arrival of either is sure to push Werner further down the pecking order.
While selling off Werner is still not in the mind, the forward is still in a battle to prove his worth to the club and manager. Tuchel has often backed Werner amidst his struggles but now he is set to meet Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech to discuss transfer plans for next season.
There is a belief that a world-class striker is needed at Stamford Bridge to take them to greater heights.
