According to transfer news from the club’s official site, Chelsea are lining up a summer move for Andrea Belotti. Apparently, the Torino striker is holding off on a new contract due to the club’s poor performances in the last few seasons.
The 27-year-old has been a consistent, prolific goalscorer in Serie A for Torino, season after season. However, with the Granata staring at the prospect of relegation this term, Belotti could be on the move in the summer.
Belotti’s contract with Torino runs out in the summer of 2022. His current deal also consists of a release clause worth £100 million but he could be signed for just a quarter of that amount by Chelsea. We were linked to the forward previously back in 2017 too.
The Blues have had their problems with forwards in recent seasons, with no striker seemingly being able to nail down a starting berth. Timo Werner looks more and more like an expensive mistake. Olivier Giroud is on the wrong side of 30 and somehow Tammy Abraham is being overlooked.
Chelsea, however, are not the only club interested in Belotti, with London rivals Tottenham along with Everton also keen. Belotti has bagged 11 goals and six assists in 26 Serie A appearances this season.
At 27, he is entering the peak years of his career and has had plenty of experience at the top level in Serie A. It remains to be seen if Chelsea do launch a move for the Italian international in the summer.
