Chelsea plot summer raid for English prodigy soon to be worth £100m

Transfer News: Chelsea interested in signing Jude Bellingham

According to news from Eurosport, Chelsea are interested in a summer transfer for Borussia Domrtund’s English sensation Jude Bellingham.

The 17-year-old is widely regarded as the next big thing in English football, having burst onto the scenes at Birmingham City and become a first-team regular at the tender age of 16.

Last summer saw Borussia Dortmund beat a host of other top clubs to sign Bellingham for a transfer fee £25m – a huge investment for a 17-year-old but one they feel was worth every penny as he is now evolving into a player worth £100m like Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland have done.

Bellingham has enjoyed a scintillating debut campaign with Dortmund, as he has established himself as a regular in lineup despite his age. In 39 appearances across all competitions, the midfielder has scored three goals and set up four more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

On the back of his exploits with Dortmund, Bellingham also broke into the England national team and is firmly in the picture for the Euros this summer. And his rise to stardom in a short period has put him on the radars of Chelsea again.

The report claims that Chelsea are thinking about bolstering their midfield unit for a while now. And while former manager Frank Lampard saw Declan Rice as the man for the job, there is a general sense of feeling now that Bellingham could be a better signing.

However, the Blues are aware that a transfer this summer will be difficult as Dortmund are already staring at the prospect of losing Sancho and Haaland. Besides, the 17-year-old is happy at Dortmund and isn’t considering an exit, even if they miss on Champions League football. (h/t Eurosport)
