According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Real Madrid are believed to be jacking up the price for Chelsea linked Erling Haaland.
The report states that Real are merely faking interest in the player and that in turn is driving the price up for other clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City.
The Norwegian hitman has taken Europe by storm with his goal-scoring exploits for RedBull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. In 50 outings for Dortmund, he has scored 49 goals. Chelsea have held an interest in the player for a while now and could look to move for him this summer.
There is a £65m release clause in his contract, which activates only in 2022. Nonetheless, the German club could cash in on the 20-year-old this summer by demanding a figure more than the release clause.
With so many clubs interested in the forward and not without reason, Real Madrid are believed to be playing their own game. They simply feel that the demands set by Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola are exorbitant.
Real are also fed up with dealing with the agent after several attempts to sign his players such as Paul Pogba and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
A £154million deal was supposed to be on the cards with Haaland preferring a move to the Bernabeu but that interest from Real was only a facade.
It does leave teams like Chelsea in a spot given how finances are tight. However, with Real not really interested in the player, the Blues could have one less club to worry about.
