Erling Haaland representatives to hold talks with Chelsea after Spain trip

Representatives of Erling Haaland schedule transfer talks with Chelsea

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t football.london), Chelsea are set to hold talks regarding Erling Haaland with his representatives in London.

It emerged on Thursday that Mino Raiola and Alfe-Inge Haaland were in Spain, holding talks with Barcelona and Real Madrid over a potential transfer. And they are expected to continue their trip.

The report mentions that the duo is expected to fly out to London and hold talks with four Premier League clubs. This list includes Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Amidst this, Borussia Dortmund could cash in on the player this summer, as a potential £100million+ sum is being quoted. This will be in stark contrast to what they will receive next year.

Tug of war

Haaland’s contract contains a £65million release clause that becomes active in the summer of 2022. And the Black and Yellow, like most clubs, are feeling the financial strains of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In that regard, Barcelona and Los Galacticos themselves are not placed in the strongest financial position they’ve ever been in. This is where the English clubs could swoop in.

But the fact that Haaland’s representatives flew out to Spain first could indicate that La Liga might be the Norwegian forward’s preferred destination. However, English clubs won’t give up easily.

United have made Haaland their priority target while City are looking for a replacement for the outgoing Sergio Aguero. And Chelsea, too, are prepared to dish out the cash despite spending £45million on Timo Werner last summer.
