Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard may consider Tottenham job
According to Express, former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard may consider taking up the reigns at Tottenham. It has been reported that Spurs’ rivalry with Chelsea will not be an issue for Lampard as he looks to return to management.
Lampard, a Chelsea legend, was named as our first-team manager ahead of the 2019/20 season after Maurizio Sarri was relieved of his duties. Prior to taking up the job, the former midfielder had just one season of managerial experience under him, with EFL Championship club Derby County.
While Lampard did well in his first season, leading Chelsea to a top-four finish with a transfer embargo in place, things started to unravel for him in the ongoing campaign. Inconsistent performances, poor results and the inability to get the best out of the marquee summer signings all meant that he was let go of by the Blues in January earlier this year.
Spurs are on the hunt for a new manager after Jose Mourinho was sacked last week. Results were deteriorating and team morale looked down when Daniel Vevy decided to call time on the Portuguese’s stint at North London. Currently, Ryan Mason is in charge on an interim basis as they try to find suitable candidates to take the job next season.
Journalist Ian McGarry suggested that even though Frank Lampard has previously claimed that he would not manage Spurs, there is a chance that he could reverse his decision.
“Frank is someone I know very well, he’s pragmatic, he’s ambitious, he wants to progress his coaching career. I don’t think he would see crossing the border if you like from south west London to north London necessarily as a dealbreaker for him.”

While Spurs have not reached out to Lampard regarding the job, he does remain a viable option. He already has Premier League experience and did a good job in his first season with Chelsea. A left-field choice, seeing Lampard at Spurs would surely be an interesting sight.
