Thomas Tuchel offers glimmer of hope to Chelsea ace struggling for game-time

Thomas Tuchel addresses Tammy Abraham situation amid Chelsea exit links

According to Leicestershire Live, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has offered out-of-favour star Tammy Abraham a hope of working his way back into the team.

Abraham has hardly featured for Chelsea ever since Tuchel took over the reins of the club from Frank Lampard back in January earlire this year. The 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order and finds him behind the likes of Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud as well as Kai Havertz for the centre-forward berth.

Indeed, Abraham has not featured for the Blues since February, although he was sidelined with an injury for a brief spell. Nevertheless, there have been occasions when he has not even made the matchday squad under the German, even when fit and available.

Abraham’s situation has led to speculations that he could be on the move in the summer transfer window. The likes of Leicester City, Aston Villa and West Ham United have all been linked with a move for the 23-year-old. (h/t Leicestershire Live)

A way back for Abraham?

Tuchel, however, has insisted that Abraham will have a chance to work his way back into the side, adding that it could just take a matter of minutes for the striker to become a regular again.

“The big advantage is that as a striker you always have the chance to change things around in one or two minutes. Sometimes you come in late, you score a decisive goal and you change the whole momentum. This is far easier, even if he does not feel it right now, far easier situation to turn things around.”

Tuchel also went on to explain how Abraham had reacted to the situation, praising him for his efforts in recent training sessions.

“He struggled a bit to accept the situation and he struggled a bit finding the solution to the situation, to be a bit stuck between his demands to himself, and his expectations about his role, then the role he was suddenly in.

“But now I have the feeling that he has found the way to cope with it, which I am very happy about, he produced very good training sessions now in a row. This was the first step, and he has a high chance to be in the squad. And as I said as a striker you never know, things can change in one minute.”
