Transfer News: Chelsea to offer one of three players to sign Declan Rice

According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea could offer one of their players in a swap deal to land Declan Rice. It has been said that one of Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Andreas Christensen could be offered to the Hammers to get Rice as Chelsea look to add another midfielder to their ranks.

Rice spent time at Chelsea’s academy before making the switch to West Ham and has made huge strides at the East London outfit. A regular for club and country now, the Englishman is one of the best defensive midfielders on display in the Premier League.

Lampard even confirmed that he was particularly intent on securing the transfer of one player – Declan Rice.

West Ham have been credited with a recent interest in Abraham due to their dearth of strikers after the departure of Sebastien Haller. The Chelsea striker has hardly been used by Tuchel despite being fit and could see his future elsewhere.

There is also Loftus-Cheek, who is on loan at Fulham. He could be a direct replacement for Rice if the swap is made. Lastly, Chelsea could look to offer Christensen if West Ham cannot turn Craig Dawson’s loan into a permanent deal.

While there was little chatter on Rice after Lampard’s departure, Chelsea haven’t entirely lost interest in the promising midfielder. However, with moves for a striker being planned, cash will be in short supply for other positions. It is very likely they will go for a swap deal for Rice, offering one of those three names.
