Transfer News: West Ham to move for Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham next season
According to transfer news from Sports Illustrated, West Ham have zeroed in on Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham as their number one target for next season. The Englishman recently returned from an injury but was still not afforded any minutes in the last two games.
Abraham broke into the first-team last season under Frank Lampard and was a vital part of the side that finished fourth. With a transfer ban last season, Abraham made full use of the opportunities handed to him and went on to score 15 goals.
However, the England international has slipped down the order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner. The likes of Werner, Kai Havertz and Olivier Giroud have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.
After being passed fit for the game, he was a surprise exclusion from the squad against West Brom. Chelsea were beaten 5-2 by the Baggies in what was Tuchel’s first defeat as Blues manager. Several Chelsea players were confused by the way Tuchel has handled Abraham.
It does put Abraham’s future in doubt with West ham now making him a priority signing for next season. West Ham have a dearth of strikers after letting go of Sebastien Haller in January. However, the Hammers want to bring in one striker to provide competition and support for Michail Antonio.

The striker is stalling on a new deal and West Ham could look to take advantage of the same. While Abraham may yet have more than two years on his existing deal, it looks increasingly likely that they could let him go. In that case, he will have no shortage of teams to snap him up.
