Young Chelsea star warns his teammates of complacency after 2-0 away win vs Porto

Mason Mount warns Chelsea against complacency after Porto win

Mason Mount has warned Chelsea to not get complacent after their first-leg win over Porto (h/t Express). The Blues came up trumps 2-0, courtesy of goals from Mount and Ben Chilwell in either half to give their side a valuable advantage going into the second leg.

On the up, it almost looks like Chelsea have made their place in the semi-final with two away goals to show for. Mount was again a lively presence in the side and scored his first Champions League goal for the Blues in 15 appearances in the competition.

However, despite his good showing and Chelsea’s advantage, the England international warned his fellow teammates to not get carried away as they still have another 90 minutes to negotiate. Mount spoke about how difficult it was to get the result against Porto and added that there was still work to do.

“We obviously got the goal first half and then late on in the second, and that obviously secured a good win. But that’s only half the tie, we’ve still got the second leg to go. The job is not done. They are going to come and fight for the next leg and we’re going to have to give it our all again.”

Within six days, Chelsea will have their second leg as Porto will aim to give it their all. Chelsea looked comfortable in keeping the Portuguese side at bay for most of the game and if anything similar is to follow, they are sure to go through to the semi-finals.
