Chelsea boss Tuchel hails “world-class” Premier League star amid transfer links

Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel hails Sergio Aguero amid Chelsea links

According to news outlet Mirror, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has hailed Manchester City star, Sergio Aguero, amid transfer links.

Aguero, 32, is in the final few months of his contract with the Premier League leaders. And it was confirmed last week that the Argentine international will move on from the club when his deal runs out at the end of the season.

This development has sparked a flurry of interest in Aguero, with a host of clubs from England and in Europe vying for his signature. Chelsea, too, have been credited with serious interest in a transfer for Aguero.

And when quizzed about the speculations, the Blues’ manager, Thomas Tuchel, hailed the Manchester City star.

“We have full respect for Manchester City and for Sergio Aguero, who is a big player for them. There are no words needed from me about the achievements of this guy, he is a world-class player.”

However, Tuchel refused to address the links with Chelsea head on, insisting that Aguero was still a Manchester City player, and by extension a rival to Chelsea.

“But don’t forget, we compete in three competitions for Manchester City so I will never speak about their players and talk about a player’s future. We are rivals and, like I said, there are no words needed from me to praise Sergio Aguero’s career. It is outstanding and speaks for itself.

“He is still a player for City and will still help them to achieve their goals, which is a big collision to our goals because we are following the same things.”

Chelsea had recently been touted as the favourites to sign Aguero. Given his unbelievable record in the Premier League, the 32-year-old can be a good short-term signing. More so, considering that Olivier Giroud’s contract runs out soon.

It, however, remains to be seen if there is any genuine interest from the club’s part in signing him.
