“Better off” – PL boss urges on-loan Chelsea starlet to stay on

Sam Allardyce urges Conor Gallagher to stay at West Brom

According to Metro, Sam Allardyce has urged Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher to stay at West Brom. The midfielder is currently on loan at newly-promoted side West Brom and will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Conor Gallagher joined the Chelsea academy as an 8-year-old and went on to progress through the youth teams, ultimately signing his first professional contract in 2018. Since then, he has gone out on loan to Charlton and Swansea, where he impressed.

Leeds United are among the clubs to have made an enquiry regarding Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher impressed on loan in the Championship last season

This season, Gallagher was allowed to leave on loan as newly-promoted West Brom came for him. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the Baggies, Gallagher has been one of their best players this season. The Englishman has featured in 23 of 28 league games for them, scoring and assisting twice.

Former manager Allardyce has asked the player to stay at the club for one more season.

‘If we stay in the Premier League I’d hope he is here next season not at Chelsea. He’d be better off having another season with us rather than the competitive size of the Chelsea squad. He is learning and development level at 19 has been improved.

I have seen a good player since I have been here. I heard how good he was before I came. I think every day and every game he plays in the Premier League he gains more experience.’

It is being said that Tuchel wants to give Gallagher a chance next season. Gallagher is a quality player but there could also be a chance that he might warm the benches on his return.

Billy Gilmour has suffered this season as he was not allowed to leave on loan. Conor Gallagher does look a more well-rounded and developed player but sitting on the benches could stunt his career growth, something Chelsea have to handle very carefully.
