“Idiots” – Man United legend jumps to the defence of in-form Chelsea star

Chelsea News: Roy Keane defends Mason Mount from critics

According to news from Daily Mail, Roy Keane has come to the defence of Chelsea star Mason Mount, labelling his critics as ‘idiots’. The former Manchester United captain and hot-headed pundit showered praises on Mount for his performances this season.

The midfielder has continued to impress for Chelsea and England in recent weeks. He started all of the last three qualifiers, scoring and assisting once. Mount is scheduled to return to action for Chelsea this weekend.

One of Lampard’s most trusted charges, Mount’s position in the side became uncertain when the manager was sacked and Tuchel came in. However, he has shown that he can cut it under the demanding manager also and has become one of the regulars amidst the chopping and changing of Tuchel.

However, his critics felt that Mount’s selection for England wasn’t justified and others such as Foden and Grealish should be starting in his place.

‘Well that is pretty important, that your manager likes you. Doesn’t matter what people outside the game think, there are a lot of idiots out there. Ultimately, I think the players pick the team and he has performed well enough for every manager to say “listen you are going to be in my starting line up”.

‘Outstanding player. He wants to be an all round midfielder. I never hear anything negative about him off the pitch, he seems a brilliant young kid, he has gone out on loan he has done it the hard way. He is a fantastic player and I’m looking forward to seeing him tonight.’

High praise indeed from one of the icons of the Premier League. The youngster has contributed to 9 goals in the league and has been used in a much more advanced role this season.

He has become a very potent option for Tuchel this term and hopefully continues this mercurial growth.
